This event is ALWAYS one of my favorite nights of the year.  Every November we look at our calendars and find a date in December that works for all 8 of us to have dinner and exchange gifts.  It is not an easy task given all of our busy schedules, but we work till we find one that works, and then we stick with it!  This year we went to a restaurant called Rise No. 1.  They are known for their souffles.  It was delicious, and then we headed down the street to Bread Winners for coffee and to open gifts.  The gifts are always small, but they are a fun part of our evening and a way to remember each other when we use our gifts throughout the year and at Christmas time.  This year we were sad because Betty, Susan's mom, wasn't able to come at the last minute because she was sick.  We definitely missed her and will plan something with her early this spring.  When we left Rise No. 1, they gave us each a little card with a thought on it.  Mine said - I need to put up with two or three caterpillars if I want to know the butterflies...said the flower.  I had never heard that before and thought it was really neat.  But, my favorite card was Becky's card.  It said - A mirror reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he choses.  Proverbs 27:19.

I think I have chosen very wisely!
