Dragon Basketball

Alli's basketball team, the Dragons (I know that's not a very original name!) had an awesome season and finished the year taking 2nd in the area tournament. They went undefeated through the season and won the district tournament. Then they played in the area tournament and won twice in overtime to play for the championship where they lost to an outstanding team. We were all so proud of the girls and the way they played. They have a wonderful coach, and he really taught them how to PLAY basketball and run different plays and types of offense and defense. It was fun to watch such a huge development from last year to this year. I think this team has a future ahead of them!

Upwards Basketball

Caroline tried Upwards Basketball this winter and was assigned to the Links team. This a great program where they really focus on teaching the fundamentals of basketball with an emphasis on Christianity and recognition for everyone. It was fun to see Caroline progress throughout the season. The first game she was called for traveling (more like running) with the ball multiple times, and by the end of the season, she was placing in dribbling contests and scoring baskets. She was aggressive and intense during her games, but she always had fun playing. If she chooses to play again next year, she will be a force on the court!

Fabulous Friends

We had such a fun evening a couple of weeks ago when Becky, Rick, Marci, and Ray came over for dinner. We were definitely missing Susan and Scott, and it was not the same without them. Susan got really sick the day of our get-together and wasn't able to come. We did get another lunch scheduled out of that, so I'm looking forward to lunch with my girls the week after spring break. I am fortunate to get time throughout the year with Becky, Marci, and Susan, but we rarely spend time together with our spouses, so it's always a fun time for them and for us. We had a great meal and even better conversation! We always laugh and have so much fun together. I am blessed with so many wonderful friendships in my life!

So You Think You're A Dragon

Last Friday, CES had their Dragon Pride Assembly with the theme, So You Think You're A Dragon. The girls were supposed to dress in as much dragon wear as possible, and they both wanted to wear their cheerleading outfits. They were recognized for meeting the reading minutes required for the 6 weeks and for completing a service project. This time they made cards for the sick children at Cook's Children's Hospital of Fort Worth. These assemblies are always a fun time and are filled with lots of school spirit and pride!

My Middle Child

Caroline has always been my pickiest eater. She loves sweets and carbs and some fruit, but not much else. The one vegetable that she will almost always eat is raw carrots, especially if there is a little ranch dip to go with it. A few nights ago we had carrots for dinner, and during dinner she excused herself to go to the restroom. The next morning I found the above evidence in the wastebasket in the restroom. I have to admit I laughed a little bit when I saw it and also marveled at how little she tried to hide her evidence. Did she not think I would notice this??? Needless to say we had a little talk about deceitfulness and the importance of nutrition. I'm not convinced that this will be the last time I find her food in the trash.

Billy Goat Gruff

Will's Transitional Kindergarten class put on a small play at the end of class the other day. The boys had made puppets and said the words to this very cute Billy Goat Gruff. Will was grinning from ear to ear!
